The Habit of Turmeric Tea

Among the many reasons why turmeric tea is beneficial for health, the two most important are that it reduces pain and improves your immunity.  The  benefits of turmeric for skin are well known. How ever, turmeric in tea also has its own benefits that we explore here.

A daily cup of turmeric tea can help you get rid of inflammation, whether chronic or low level, which is the outcome of oxidized lipoproteins, glycation, metabolism process, uric acid and high blood glucose. The component in the turmeric tea responsible for reducing the inflammation is called curcuminoid. Not only this, turmeric tea also helps lose weight.

Turmeric tea is prepared by pouring boiling water over the dried or fresh turmeric leaves and the leaves stay immersed for seven to ten minutes. In this way, the water gets the nutritional value derived from the roots. Use turmeric extract with large quantities of curcumin and a dash of black pepper for chronic pain caused by inflammation. Don’t use fresh turmeric. It’s okay to have healthy fats with your tea, such as banana, nut oil, avocado, olive oil or coconut. Other than that, you can add whole fat milk, fermented milk product or pure pastured butter to the tea to enhance the flavor.

Grated dry/fresh turmeric- 1/2 cup

Boiling water

1 quart sanitized jar with a tightly secured lid

Take a jar and place the turmeric in it. Then, pour boiling water over the leaves until the jar is filled. Secure the jar loosely with a lid until the mixture has cooled down. Then, secure the jar tightly. After four to ten hours, strain the infusion and store it in the fridge for upto 3 days. To ensure that the jar heats up quickly, add an inch of boiling water and swirl it. To enhance the flavor, you can also add black pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, milk, butter, honey, ginger, cinnamon, molasses or coconut sugar.

Turmeric Milk Ingredients:

Grated turmeric- 1/2-1 inch piece

Organic/pastured milk- 8 ounces

Ginger (optional)

Milk- Soy/ Almond/ Cocunut/ Rice, etc.

Put milk and turmeric in a saucepan and heat them over a medium flame. Turn off the flame before the mixture gets boiled. Strain the milk and wait for it to cool down. If you wish to use this as a facial wash, take a wash cloth, soak it in the milk and apply it to the skin. Wait for 10 minutes and then wash it off with cool water.

An increased weight leads to chronic or low-level inflammation. Turmeric tea reduces this inflammation through its anti-inflammatory properties and increases fat burning. The component curcumin controls high blood sugar, insulin resistance and metabolic issues that are caused by obesity. For best results, drink atleast 2 to 3 cups daily. Use curcumin extract to prepare the tea. Pour boiling water over a teaspoon of curcumin extract and add an extra flavor that you really like. Although, this tea is effective for weight loss, but this alone cannot reduce weight. You need to have a balanced diet and exercise to get a healthy weight.
