Did you know January is National Oatmeal Month? Well don’t worry I didn’t either. I seem to not know a lot of things lately. It’s okay though, since I already love oatmeal, it’s just another reason to smile when I spoon some into my bowl each morning. I love oatmeal with fruit in the morning, snacking on oatmeal raisin cookies and use oats in our rabbit’s daily feed. However with all the use in recipes and cooking, I never really thought about actually drinking it. That was until Oatworks made it’s way through our door.
Originally I thought I was doing good having a bowl of oatmeal once a day or as close to once a day as I could get. Then I found out that you actually need to have two bowls of oatmeal every day to receive as much beta glucan that you can get in 1 bottle of Oatworks. Wondering what beta glucans are? Yeah I did too. They’re sugars that are found in the cell walls of bacteria, yeasts, algae, oats, and barley, when consumed orally they lower your cholestrol levels.
Other perks to drinking Oatworks is that the fiber and fruit packed in each smoothie gives you that natural energy boost instead of needing to rely on coffee or energy drinks.
There are three great tasting flavors to choose from; Strawberry Banana, Peach Mango, and Pomegranate Blueberry. Pomegranate Blueberry was by far my favorite. I love blueberry flavor in everything but just not a fan of eating actual blueberries for some odd reason.
Oatworks is Gluten Free, Vegan Friendly, Dairy Free, is packed full of natural oat fiber and is Non-GMO. Seriously that is a TON of pluses for such a simple little bottle of tastiness.
The smoothie drinks are incredibly smooth. No worries about tasting chunks of oatmeal. That was the Teens biggest fear for some odd reason. I do think they are best drank when cold or over ice. I let the Teen have 3 and made her drink each one each morning before running out the door to catch the bus. She enjoyed the flavors as well and said that for a change her stomach didn’t growl during Spanish class. I don’t know why she feels the need to constantly skip breakfast but it’s become a battle that I just finally backed off on. At 15 they know it all, right?
Her favorite was Peach Mango. She loved the natural sweetness from both fruits, while I loved getting not just but the antioxidants from the blueberries.
